Outside of Vic/Devin/Tre the rest of the roster has unfortunately been sub-replacement level (Julian/Keldon being on the edge). Just adding 2 reasonable rotation players to the team in free agency would make an enormous difference like Naji Marshall/ Kris Dunn/Nic Batum ect. Don't know if the front office sees it that way.

I think that's one of the reasons I'm alright if the Spurs don't make a huge splash on the trade market this summer! Exercising patience and spending wisely makes the most sense unless a no-brainer deal comes across the table for a legitimate difference maker! FWIW, Wemby told media he will have an input in the offseason draft and rebuilding decisions this summer!

100% agree on the trade market giving up a Dejounte level or greater package for Trae or a similar level of player doesn't make sense to me. I am optimistic things could look a lot better next year with age related improvement, better lineup choices and hopefully a couple of lower cost rotation level additions. I think making the playin could be a realistic target

Definitely an achievable goal that the Spurs should aim for! Personally would be disappointed if they had a season anything close to this one next year!

Oh wow!!! Wembanyama off the court is just as intimidating as Wembanyama on the court. He’s competing in both arenas already!! Also, as much as I miss Dejounte, Derek and others, I LOVE THIS CURRENT ROSTER❤️❤️❤️ The only player I would NOT be devastated to see traded, among the core minutes holders, is Keldon Johnson...

A question and a comment:

While there is lots of talk for Vic as DPOY (which I think is warranted but he shouldn't win) do you think this means he has a chance at 1st Team All-Defense or is the reasoning for him not to land on the first team the same as why he won't win DPOY?

This off-season, I go back and forth. Trae is on the books for 43/46/49 for the next three seasons which would lock this team into a core roster for the next 3 years. I'd be okay with that for the right price. Otherwise, finding vets like Covington or Batum to come off the bench for a couple of years while the young core develops keeps the powder dry for Summer '25 when Brandon Ingram or Lauri Markkanen could be there.

Unfortunately, I think that's probably what will happen! There's no denying his impact, but I can't see the media voting for him to make All-Defense first team on their ballots while the Spurs are this terrible! Feels like he might have a good shot to make the All-Defense second team, though!

Thanks for the question and sharing your thoughts, Brandon! I would be happy for the Spurs to take on the financial burden of Trae Young since he seems like the perfect one-two punch and pick-and-roll partner for Wemby, but I also understand wanting to save that money for future free agents that have less defensive shortcomings and might cost less cap space!

So you also think he should be in the DPOY conversation! Probably won't happen but love that quote he gave the media the other day telling them Gobert can have this one because the rest are going to be his! Thanks Noah!

I just don't see how the voters could possibly give it to him when the Spurs have been so bad as a unit! He is easily one of the most impactful defenders in the league, but I think there is too much of a precedent of this going to the best defender on one of the best defenders that he won't be a real threat to win it this year! Thanks for the question!

Massive rhetoric surrounding this one. I say; the powers that be recognize the financial win from a controversial Wembanyama DPOY & DROY!! Wow!!! The press toward the brand will be insane and setup high expectations for 2025 from writers, fans and critics!
